Southampton reportedly want Bojan Miovski and the Aberdeen striker admits that he dreams of playing Premier League football in the future.

The Saints have quite the track record when it comes to signing players from north of the border. Virgil van Dijk, Victor Wanyama, Stuart Armstrong and co arrived at St Mary’s from Celtic, after all, before introducing their talents to a wider audience.

And Miovski, after an outstanding season in the final third at Pittodrie, appears to have been lined up as a silver-bullet solution to Southampton’s ongoing goalscoring issues.

23-year-old Miosvski has scored 17 goals in 34 games during a fabulous debut season at Aberdeen. It remains to be seen if Southampton step up their interest. But if they do, the Dons may have a challenge on their hands retaining the North Macedonia poacher.

Southampton like Aberdeen striker Bojan Miovski

“My goal is to continue in a club from the best five leagues in Europe,” Miovski tells Pop Up. “And if I could choose one, it would definitely be the English Premier League.

“Every player’s goal is to reach the highest level in football. And the English Premier League attracts me due to the fact that it is the most attractive and watched league in the world.”

Southampton, of course, are far from guaranteed a top-flight place in 2023/24. Despite taking five points off Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, Ruben Selles side are still staring down the barrel of relegation.

A lack of quality in the final third, coupled with an error-prone backline, makes a less-than tasty cocktail. Only Che Adams and set-piece specialist James Ward-Prowse have more than two league goals to their name.

The Scottish Sun believe Southampton scouted Miovski during the recent Premiership clash between Aberdeen and Celtic.

“He backs himself. (Miovski) has big self belief and has confidence in his own ability,” former Dons boss Jim Goodwin said last year (Daily Record).

“He’s a guy that has come from Eastern Europe, a new culture, language barriers, different style of football. For him to settle in as quickly as he has is a great credit to him.

“He is a top, top player.”
