Tony Adams has expressed his surprise at Bukayo Saka still being an Arsenal player and the fact that Manchester City did not even try to sign him.

Currently, £70,000-a-week starlet [Mirror] is without a doubt the best winger in the Premier League bar none, leading the Gunners’ Premier League title challenge.

However, Arsenal were in a very rough patch during the first couple of years of Mikel Arteta’s reign, which is why Tony Adams is shocked that Bukayo Saka did not decide to join Manchester City.

Tony Adams is surprised that Bukayo Saka plays for Arsenal and not Manchester City

After all, Pep Guardiola’s side have been the dominant force in English football for over half a decade and Saka is one of the best young players in Europe.

Furthermore, the Gunners have failed to finish in the Champions League so far, let alone lifting either the Premier League trophy or winning Europe’s elite competition so far.

As a result, Tony Adams expressed his shock at Bukayo Saka still being an Arsenal player and how Manchester City have not tried to snap him up.

“When Manchester City paid £100 million to sign Jack Grealish 18 months ago, I couldn’t believe that they didn’t even try to buy Bukayo Saka”, he wrote in his column for the Sun.

“Even now I’m gobsmacked that Arsenal have been able to hang on to a kid who is already one of the best talents in the world. Hopefully, they will soon get Bukayo tied down to a lengthy new contract, so I can stop worrying.

“I’m sure they’ll give Bukayo that hefty new contract to keep him at the Emirates because they know he is irreplaceable.”

As the rumours continue to circulate around Bukayo Saka signing a new contract at Arsenal, Tony Adams would no longer have to worry about him leaving for Manchester City or any other club.
