Gabby Agbonlahor has told Liverpool target Mason Mount to leave Chelsea in favour of a summer transfer.

It was reported on Tuesday that Jurgen Klopp’s side are assured that Mount is willing to join the club, and were believed to be preparing a bid ahead of next season.

Gabby Agbonlahor would clearly be all smiles if that transpired as he is keen on Mason Mount leaving Chelsea if either Liverpool or Bayern Munich present him with a transfer opportunity.

Agbonlahor explains why Liverpool target Mount should prioritise a summer transfer

The England international’s form has endured a steep decline this campaign, after coming off a season where he registered 11 goals and 10 assists in the Premier League.

As Mason Mount, who Steven Gerrard admitted to being a ‘fan’ of and Jordan Henderson branded as ‘very exciting’ via the Metro finds himself in a contractual dispute with Chelsea amid links to a Liverpool transfer, Gabby Agbonlahor made a case for why he should leave this summer.

“I think he has to go. I think, you know, it hasn’t worked out for him this season. “But there’s clubs who would take Mason Mount. You look at Liverpool. Liverpool will take midfielders from everywhere. They’ll have [Jude] Bellingham, they’ll have [Declan] Rice, they’ll have Mount”, he said on talkSPORT.

Gabby Agbonlahor continued to explain why Liverpool-linked Mason Mount should look for a transfer next season, saying, “Would he fit in a three at Liverpool? At Bayern Munich? You do see players linked with old managers. We don’t know if that’s definitely true, but there’s a top player in there in Mason Mount.”

“But sometimes, being at a club since you were a kid, maybe it’s gone a bit stale there. He needs to move on and have a fresh start somewhere.”

Whether Mason Mount agrees with Gabby Agbonlahor or not, if he ends up joining Liverpool in a summer transfer, the move is likely to split opinion amongst the Kop.
