‘Daniel Levy doesn’t’: Sky man makes Mauricio Pochettino and Tottenham claim

Jamie Redknapp has raised doubt over Mauricio Pochettino making a possible return to Tottenham Hotspur by claiming that Daniel Levy ‘doesn’t feel he is the right man’.

Many could see the Antonio Conte sacking coming from around the corner following his rant, it was just a case of who Daniel Levy was going to bring in. Was Mauricio Pochettino going to return?

Well, whilst that could still happen in the summer, the Spurs chairman decided to hand the keys to Cristian Stelllini and Ryan Mason until the end of the season.

Tottenham are sitting fourth in the Premier League table and the task is pretty simple, to get the club over the Champions League line.

Given that Mauricio Pochettino is out-of-work, then it would have been a lot easier to appoint the 51-year-old again, but Levy decided against going down that road.

For Jamie Redknapp, he thinks that a big sign, even if ‘a lot of people’ felt it would have been a ‘good idea’ to reunite with Pochettino again, as he told Sky Sports News.

“Right now, they have ten games to go,” said Redknapp. “They will be scrambling around. They have come to the decision to keep the people already at the club in charge (Cristian Stellini and Ryan Mason) and not gone for a Mauricio Pochettino.

“A lot of people felt it might have been a good idea to get them across the line and try to get them that top-four place.

“What that tells you is that Daniel Levy doesn’t think that he is the right man for the club going forward.”

TOTTENHAM AND POCHETTINO STAND STILL

After Pochettino’s sacking, Spurs brought in the likes of Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte to move forward, but some would argue that they have gone backwards instead.

The squad has certainly regressed, including the style of play. But it could also be argued that Pochettino hasn’t moved forward either – although, Alan Smith labelled the 51-year-old as a ‘fine coach’, who would be ‘keen’ to return to old shores.

Yes, he got the PSG gig and worked with the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi, but he was sacked in next to no time with some still questioning if he is an elite-level coach.
