Leeds United target Viktor Gyokeres has excelled for Sweden whilst earning praise from Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak.

The Whites are thought to be very keen on signing Coventry City hitman Gyokeres.

TEAMtalk reported in February that Leeds are planning to make a move for Gyokeres this summer – no matter what division they are in.

90Min also reported at the weekend that Leeds remain in the race to sign Gyokeres alongside a host of Premier League clubs.

That’s no great surprise as Gyokeres has been outstanding in the Championship this season.

Gyokeres has smashed 18 goals in 38 Championship games this season – and has now shown his quality on the international stage.

Leeds United target Viktor Gyokeres shines for Sweden

Sweden faced Azerbaijan in the Euro 2024 qualifiers on Monday night and Gyokeres was handed a chance to start.

The Coventry man recorded an assist before scoring himself with 79 minutes on the clock.

Gyokeres played a key role in a 5-0 thrashing for Sweden, and the press were delighted with his performance.

Fotboll Skanalen named Gyokeres as their man of the match, rating him at four out of five stars.

Gyokeres was so good that Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak – who played up top with the Leeds target – was blown away.

Isak told Fotboll Skanalen that he felt playing up top with Gyokeres was ‘good’ and felt he turned in an excellent performance.

Isak noted that Gyokeres was winning all of his duels with defenders and opening up space for him to shine.

“It was good. It is very nice to play with such a player, one who wins all his duels. He did excellently. It made it easier for me, that I could find my areas,” said Isak.

Leeds were seemingly convinced by Gyokeres before, but this performance may only add to their interest.
