AC Milan are reportedly interested in signing Real Madrid playmaker Marco Asensio, though the Rossoneri already face competition from Arsenal and Manchester City.
According to CalcioMercato, the Italian giants are looking to exploit the free-agent market this summer amid a mass squad overhaul from Stefano Pioli’s side, with Asensio one of the players Milan are interested in signing as the Spanish international looks set to leave Madrid.
The winger is in the final few months of his contract with Los Blancos, and despite winning three UEFA Champions Leagues with the Spanish titans, Asensio looks set to leave Madrid to begin a new chapter in his career, and the attacker is not short of admirers.
TeamTalk recently claimed that Arsenal will soon make a contract offer to sign Asensio, whilst 90min report that Pep Guardiola’s City are also interested in the 27-year-old, who was hailed as ‘world class’ by former Madrid and Spain manager Vicente del Bosque.

Indeed, whilst Asensio has been nothing but a bit-part player for Madrid under Carlo Ancelotti, there’s no denying that the winger has a lot of quality left in the tank, and a move from Spain this summer could be what’s needed to unlock the attacker’s true potential.
And whilst Arsenal or City could make for ideal next clubs for Asensio, Milan’s stature and their need for a quality wide-player makes the San Siro side the perfect suitors for the Madrid star, who he himself could be keen on joining in the transfer window.
Asensio signing for Milan could be a match made in heaven

Leaving Madrid for greener pastures is something few players can come to grips with, yet it’s a path that has proven successful in recent seasons, most notably with Martin Odegaard at Arsenal. And for Asensio, a move to Milan could be perfect for the Spaniard.
Serie A as a league fits the winger’s style of play to a tee, and although Asensio could succeed in the Premier League with the Gunners or City, the playmaker would become a star in Italy with Milan, who are one of the few clubs who can stand alongside Madrid in terms of stature and reputation.
