As famed Malayalam actor Innocent passes away at the age of 75, we take a look back at the life he built with wife Alice.
Making his screen debut in 1972 with Nrithasala, Innocent built up a career as a popular actor appearing in over 750 films. He was a part of Malayalam cinema‘s biggest films and even served as the president of Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) for 15 years.
Innocent died at VPS Lakeshore Hospital in Kochi on Sunday, March 26 after a long health battle. He is survived by his wife, child, and grandchildren.
Who is Malayalam actor Innocent’s wife?
Innocent was married to Alice Thekkethala on September 26, 1976. They were married until Innocent’s passing this March. The couple recently celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary.
Together, they had one child, a son named Sonnet Parppidam. It is unknown how old Sonnet currently is, but he celebrates his birthday in February. Sonnet has two children of his own, a son and a daughter, named Innocent Jr and Anna, respectively.

Innocent’s grandson reportedly portrayed him in a film
Named after his grandfather, Innocent Jr is reportedly following in his footsteps. It is thought that Innocent Jr played the role of his grandfather in a documentary.
Despite Innocent’s prolific acting career in Malayalam cinema, he is the only family member to have actively participated in this industry.
Innocent and his wife Alice both battled cancer
Over a decade ago, Innocent was diagnosed with cancer. His wife Alice was diagnosed with the disease around the same time.
Innocent documented his battle against cancer in a book called Cancer Wardile Chiri (Laughter in nthe Cancer Ward). In this book, the actor and former politician touches on how he transformed his chemotherapy sessions into a fun experience, watching movies and joking with his fellow patients. “I chose comedy to fight my misery,” Innocent writes in the book. “Like the many hurdles we face in life, we must smile and embrace these things as well.”
Innocent revealed he was cancer-free in 2015. It was later confirmed that Alice had also beat cancer. But she faced a new health battle in 2020 when she was being treated in hospital with Covid-19. Alice has since regained her health.
Lakeshore Hospital issued a medical bulletin which revealed Innocent came under their care on March 3, 2023. The bulletin alleges that “Covid related respiratory issues along with multiple organ failure and a cardiac arrest led to his death.”
