Tim Sherwood has admitted that he is ‘relieved’ ex-Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel, won’t be Tottenham Hotspur’s next manager after Antonio Conte’s sacking.

The former Spurs boss stated that supporters ‘couldn’t stomach’ another man, who has past associations with Chelsea, taking to the Hotspur Way dugout.

Prior to Thomas Tuchel becoming the new Bayern Munich manager, there was talk about the ‘elite’ coach possibly heading to north London for a new gig.

Whilst that noise was going around, Bayern surprised many by sacking Julian Nagelsmann, who is now being linked with Spurs, and then bringing in Tuchel.

The 49-year-old, who won the European Cup at Stamford Bridge, was sacked by Chelsea back in September and then replaced by Graham Potter, who has Chelsea sitting tenth in the Premier League table.

Nonetheless, following Conte’s sacking, where his assistant Cristian Stellini will take over proceedings until the end of the season, Sherwood shared his thoughts on Tuchel certainly not taking that role, as he told talkSPORT Breakfast (27/03/23).

“I am just relieved that Tuchel’s settled somewhere and he has gone to Bayern Munich,” said Sherwood. “They couldn’t stomach another ex-Chelsea manager going into Tottenham.”

FROM MOURINHO TO CONTE…

That’s two trophy-laden coaches Daniel Levy has appointed at Spurs, with both getting booted out and leaving empty-handed.

What’s even worrying is that the duo left over a dark cloud and Levy, on both occasions, has been forced to bring in someone on a temporary basis until the end of the season.

Whatever your thoughts on Conte, his rant and whether or not he’s hypocritical in his thoughts, those upstairs at Hotspur Way have to take responsibility for these trophy-winning coaches not winning anything.
