Tottenham Hotspur target Mauricio Pochettino is the favourite to become the new manager of Real Madrid, according to a report.

Tottenham Hotspur target Mauricio Pochettino favourite to become Real Madrid boss

The Times have reported that Tottenham are interested in bringing back Pochettino – described as “a top manager” by Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola in The Guardian in November 2021 – as a potential replacement for Antonio Conte.

Pochettino was hugely successful in his first spell as Spurs boss and led the club to the final of the UEFA Champions League in 2019.

Conte is out of contract at Tottenham at the end of the season, and Spurs could reportedly sack the former Chelsea boss following his extraordinary outburst last weekend.

However, Pochettino is “is the favourite to end up at the Bernabeu Stadium”, according to The Times.

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti is under pressure at the moment.

Although Madrid have reached the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League and are among the favourites to win the competition for the second season in a row, Los Blancos are now likely to lose the La Liga title to bitter rivals Barcelona.

HITC Verdict: Real Madrid over Tottenham Hotspur

In our view, if Mauricio Pochettino has the choice between Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur, then the out-of-work manager will pick Los Blancos.

We have no doubt about it.

Madrid are arguably the biggest club in the world, and the chance to take charge of Los Blancos is tempting for any manager.

And let us not forget that Pochettino was in charge of Paris Saint-Germain, so he could now consider himself as a manager who takes charge of the biggest clubs in the world who regular win major trophies.
