Jose Enrique has expressed his annoyance on Instagram at claims that Liverpool are ‘increasingly unlikely’ to sign Borussia Dortmund superstar, Jude Bellingham.
The former Liverpool left-back added that Jude Bellingham will probably end up at Real Madrid or Manchester City because his club’s owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), ‘don’t want to invest’.
It was David Ornstein who claimed in The Athletic that the Reds have been put on the backfoot to sign Bellingham during the summer transfer window because of the ‘financial power’ of their rivals.

Those on Merseyside have been long admirers of the 19-year-old and many were hoping he could be part of the solution to fix the club’s major issues, especially in the middle of the park.
But everyone knows it’s going to take a serious sum to snap up the all-action midfielder, with Michael Owen even suggesting that if his former side sign Bellingham, then they won’t bring anyone else in.
Either way, Enrique thinks that the England international is ‘one of the best’ midfield players in the world, as he made his feelings about FGS pretty clear.
“They (FSG) don’t want to invest, even if he is one of the best number 8’s in the world at just 19,” said Enrique. “Does this surprise me? Not at all.”
Enrique added on his IG story: “He will go to Real Madrid or Manchester City, it was clear from the start. FSG is not going to pay the fee that Borussia Dortmund will ask for.”
BELLINGHAM SHOULD BE PATIENT
Some might point towards how, if Liverpool don’t get Champions League football for next season, then their chances of signing Bellingham are well and truly out of the water.
But as Paul Merson touched upon, Bellingham signed for Dortmund ahead of Manchester United, so he thinks the teenager could still join because he has a lot of time to play with.
Either way, just like his move to Dortmund, he should be patient, and if need be, stay in Germany for next season, which would probably suit Liverpool because it would then increase their chances of signing the player down the line.
