Arsenal target Eduardo Camavinga is in talks over a new deal with Real Madrid – and he could have a staggering £874million release clause.

Any lingering hopes of Arsenal managing to sign Camavinga can surely be forgotten about now.

The Athletic claim that preliminary negotiations are underway between Real and Camavinga.

Camavinga signed a six-year deal with Real in 2021 but the Spanish giants want to reward him with a new contract.

Real allegedly want to add another two or three years to his deal whilst giving him bumper wages and a staggering release clause.

Real have handed €1bn (£874million) release clauses to Brazilian trio Eder Militao, Rodrigo and Vinicius Junior.

The plan is to give Camavinga a similar deal now, giving Real an incredibly strong position when clubs like Arsenal ask about the midfielder.

Arsenal wanted Eduardo Camavinga in January

Arsenal were keen to land a new midfielder in January and looked to pull off an ambitious loan move.

Reports from the London Evening Standard suggested that Arsenal had expressed an interest in taking Camavinga until the summer.

Real rather unsurprisingly said no and Arsenal turned their attention to signing Jorginho from Chelsea instead.

Real boss Carlo Ancelotti has since told the London Evening Standard that Camavinga is ‘very important’ to his squad and even called him ‘untouchable’.

This new deal would almost certainly take Camavinga completely out of range for any club, including Arsenal.

The French international has been shining as a left back this season and whilst midfield is probably where his future lies, his versatility has made him so important.

Real are pushing to keep Camavinga for a while yet and this contract may just take him off Arsenal’s radar once and for all.
