Arsenal central defender William Saliba could be out for “several weeks”, according to L’Equipe.

William Saliba blow for Arsenal

The French publication has claimed that Saliba will not play for Arsenal against Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday.

The 21-year-old Arsenal centre-back suffered a back injury while playing against Sporting Lisbon in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday evening.

L’Equipe have claimed that Saliba – described as “fantastic” by Arsenal legend Ian Wright on Premier League Productions (25/02/23 at 2:20 pm) – will not play for France in the upcoming internationals and will be on the sidelines for several weeks.

Worrying for Arsenal

In our view, the injury to William Saliba could be a problem for Arsenal in their quest to win the Premier League title this season.

Saliba has established himself as a key figure at the back for the Gunners and has formed a formidable partnership with Gabriel.

Now, if the Frenchman is injured for a while, then it is likely that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will push Ben White back into central defence.

White is playing as a right-back.

However, that would leave Arteta with the problem at right-back.

Takehiro Tomiyasu also reportedly has a long-term injury.
