Gary Neville raved about Alexander Isak after his stunning equaliser for Newcastle United in their 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest.

The Swedish striker finished off a well-worked move with an improvised strike that just goes to show why he has always been regarded as a huge talent.

The 93rd minute winner from Isak also meant the Magpies are just one point behind Tottenham with a game in hand.

And now, Gary Neville has given Newcastle marksman Alexander Isak his props for what is likely to be one of the finest finishes you will see all season against Nottingham Forest.

Neville heaps praise on to Isak during Newcastle vs Nottingham Forest

The ‘outstanding’ goalscorer’s debut campaign at St. James’ Park has been marred by injuries, and as a result, his name has often been forgotten about when discussing Eddie Howe’s side.

However, Alexander Isak reminded the world about why his talent is not to be taken lightly for Newcastle against Nottingham Forest, which led Gary Neville to sing his praises.

“It is a brilliant stand-up to the back post. Isak has been a real threat. Absolutely brilliant finish. The control – it is his shin that he makes contact with – but it is all about the control and he is sort of of balance as he hits it.”

“Newcastle absolutely deserve that, it would have been criminal for them to be losing at half-time”, he said on Sky Sports.

Isak should be Howe’s main man up front

Since the World Cup, Callum Wilson’s form has taken a huge dent, which is a concern for a Newcastle side aiming for a top four finish.

The same cannot be said for Alexander Isak, who looks like the real deal every time he starts for Newcastle, as was the case with Nottingham Forest, as his moment of magic blew Gary Neville amongst many away.

Considering the top four challengers have lacked goals in recent weeks, Isak’s contribution may prove vital if they aim to play in Europe’s elite competition next season.
