Paul Merson has heaped praise on to Southampton forward Theo Walcott for his assist to Che Adams in their 3-3 draw against Tottenham Hotspur.
The former Arsenal winger put in a perfect cut back to the Scottish striker, who tapped the ball into the back of the net as the Saints equalised after Pedro Porro’s emphatic opening strike.
However, Southampton had no plans to accept defeat against Tottenham, with Theo Walcott setting up Che Adams in what was a well-worked strike which impressed Paul Merson.
Paul Merson raves about Southampton ace Theo Walcott in Tottenham draw
The former England international made headlines after being brutally honest about how gutted he was that his side were knocked out of the FA Cup by Grimsby Town recently.
But instead of mulling over what was a devastating result a couple of weeks ago, Theo Walcott stepped up for Southampton against Tottenham, which left Paul Merson blown away on Sky Sports.

“What a start! Walcott – who has been fantastic picks out Che Adams, who hits it with the outside of his foot…it hits the inside of the post and goes in. Game on!”
It’s tough to disagree with the ex-Arsenal midfielder about the Gunners hero himself.
Walcott still has something to offer
While Walcott is far from his best at this point in his career, he still remains a threat due to his pace and directness, especially on the counter attack.
Tottenham certainly felt that, as Paul Merson as many were pleasantly surprised by how effective Theo Walcott was for Southampton at St. Mary’s.
For a side battling relegation, it is imperative for them to have attacking players capable of creating the odd moment of magic when not much seems to be going in their favour.
And for the Saints, the £67,000-a-week man still has the capability to do that from time to time.
