Tottenham Hotspur are not prioritising a transfer for Jordan Pickford after he signed a new contract at Everton. Spurs were targeting the goalkeeper as a replacement for Hugo Lloris.
That is according to Michael Bridge, who reports that Pickford has fallen down the shortlist of targets Tottenham had identified. The north London club were monitoring Everton’s bid to avoid relegation from the Premier League to potentially gain his services to replace Lloris.
But Tottenham would now face a heightened asking price after Everton convinced Pickford to sign a new contract to 2027. It is, therefore, only likely that Spurs revisit their interest if the Toffees fall into the Championship. The Blues are just one point clear of the drop zone.

Everton have played one game more than Leicester City, West Ham United, Bournemouth and Leeds United below them in the table, though. Just Southampton at the bottom of the standings have also played 27 times among the bottom six and are three points worse off.
Pickford has appeared in 26 of Everton’s matches so far this season and has kept six clean sheets. The 29-year-old also captained the Toffees sporadically throughout the term while Frank Lampard was in charge. Sean Dyche took over the Goodison Park helm this January.

Pickford’s contract at Everton has not ruled out Tottenham targeting a transfer
Pickford’s new contract has not ruled out Tottenham targeting the Everton star’s transfer to replace Lloris as their No1, however. The Sun also reports that Spurs remain keen on a deal for the 50-cap England shot-stopper. They are looking to move on from 36-year-old Lloris.
But The Sun, unlike Bridge does now, suggested that Pickford was Tottenham’s top target to replace Lloris. It also claims the goalkeeper has an agreement with Everton that he can leave if they endure relegation. Although the Toffees would demand £35m if they go down.
Everton paid Sunderland £25m, rising up to £30m, for Pickford’s transfer after he endured relegation to the Championship in 2017. They have now rewarded his efforts with a £150k-a-week contract to 2027, per The Sun, that does not include a specified relegation clause.
Tottenham are willing to pay Pickford £200k-a-week to seal his transfer from Everton, also per The Sun. A move to north London would also see the goalkeeper link up with England teammate Eric Dier. The centre-half has called the goalkeeper ‘incredible’ in the past, too.
