AS Roma sporting director Tiago Pinto has admitted Aston Villa and Everton transfer target Tammy Abraham is not meeting expectations. The Serie A side had anticipated more goals.
The 25-year-old has produced an underwhelming second season at the Stadio Olimpico so far this term. He has scored just seven goals during 37 appearances across all competitions and laid on six assists. Abraham has also not scored in nine appearances since February 4.
Abraham’s lack of form has even now seen Jose Mourinho drop the 11-cap England star to his bench. He has only appeared as a substitute in four games since last finding the back of a net. Gareth Southgate also overlooked the striker for the Three Lions’ fixtures this month.

Aston Villa and Everton are targeting a transfer for Tammy Abraham
Nonetheless, Aston Villa and Everton are targeting a transfer for Abraham despite his lack of form for Roma, per iNews. The Premier League rivals remain keen to convince the striker to return to England after seeing approaches to the Giallorossi fall flat over the January sales.
Manchester United have also scouted Abraham but are prioritising a swoop for Napoli star Victor Osimhen. While Roma have slapped a £67m asking price on their forward as it is the value of Chelsea’s buy-back clause. They agreed to the option in Abraham’s move in 2021.
Chelsea’s clause becomes active this summer following Abraham’s second year at Roma to set the price Aston Villa or Everton must meet. The Villans and Toffees explored swoops in January and remain keen. Roma did not sell as they bid to return to the Champions League.

Tiago Pinto admits Tammy Abraham is not meeting Roma’s expectations
Abraham left Chelsea for Roma in August 2021 for £34m and agreed to a five-year contract in Italy. The 25-year-old went on to score 27 and assist five goals in 53 fixtures in his debut term, too. But his seven goals in 37 games this term have left Pinto feeling underwhelmed.
“He’s on seven goals,” Pinto told Sky Italia, as quoted by Calciomercato. “The forwards also have other ways of helping the team. We and he were waiting for other numbers but that’s how it is for the forwards.
“If they score for two games, everything becomes different. He helped us last season [and] he does it again this year. But we have two strong forwards and he has to push more. I’m confident because he can give us a hand.”
