Football website CMW report that Tottenham have ‘come forward’ to sign Barcelona attacker Ferran Torres with the Spaniard struggling for form at the Nou Camp this season – with Spurs looking to pair the Spain ace with Luis Enrique.

Torres, 23, joined Barcelona from Manchester City in January 2022. He made an instant impact, having a hand in 13 goals in 26 games during the second half of the 2021-22 season. This season, though, he has struggled at Barcelona.

The signing of Raphinha is starting to click – with 18 goals and assists in 37 games this season. Xavi’s side also boast Ousmane Dembele and Ansu Fati on the flanks. Torres has still played 33 times this term, but has started only 14 times.

In that time, he has scored just five goals – laying on one assist. Simply not enough. Barcelona are said to be open to his exit in the summer, and Spurs have ‘come forward’ to land the £48m talent. A player that Enrique is a big fan of.

Not least, because Torres is dating Enrique’s daughter. At the World Cup in Qatar, Torres started three of Spain’s four games under Enrique – coming on as a sub in the other. Enrique is a target for Spurs, who are looking to pair both.

Tottenham come forward for Torres, Spurs want to pair him with Enrique

Tottenham will need to bolster their ranks in the final third in the summer. Lucas Moura is leaving, while Arnaut Danjuma looks unlikely to sign permanently. His lack of game time is significant. The Dutch star will go back to Spain.

So, Spurs will need more cover for the likes of Son Heung-min, Deki Kulusevski and Richarlison. Son’s form has been up and down while Kulusevski is no stranger to injury. Spurs need a player that can push both and Torres is that.

Especially, if Spurs choose to bring in Enrique as a replacement for Antonio Conte. Bringing both Spaniards to North London would be exciting business by Daniel Levy – and might even be enough to convince Harry Kane to stay put.
