Find out if the Elizabeth Line and London Overground are running today as a new round of train strikes begins on March 16th.
Junior doctors, civil servants, teachers, and Tube workers have all walked out this week and rail workers are joining them today.
This comes after the whole London Underground network was suspended on Wednesday as Tube workers took action on Budget Day.
Thankfully, the Elizabeth Line and London Overground were still open as normal during the train strike, and it’s good news today too…
Is the Elizabeth Line running today, March 16th?
Yes, the Elizabeth Line is running as normal today and there is currently a good service on the whole line when writing this.
Despite taking passengers out of the city, the new line is operated by Transport for London (TfL) so is not affected by the National Rail strikes.
The Elizabeth Line, which opened in May 2022, runs all the way from Shenfield in Essex to Reading in Berkshire and Heathrow in Surrey.
Rail workers who belong to the RMT are walking out today in a dispute over pay and three more dates across March and April.
The March 16 strike is affecting 18 train companies across Britain and indirectly affecting many others too, with severe disruption and cancellations.
Some stations may open late and close early
TfL has warned customers that due to station closures in the morning, some services may not be able to stop at all stations or run to their normal destination.
This is because TfL is recovering from the Tube strikes on Wednesday, March 15, and the following stations are expected to open late and close early:
- Wimbledon
- Richmond
- Clapham Junction
- Liverpool Street (London Overground)
- Twyford
- Reading
- Shenfield
- Watford Junction
- Paddington (Elizabeth line)
The next train strike is on Saturday, March 18 and the Elizabeth Line will be running as usual then too.
Is London Overground open?
All London Overground routes are also running as normal today. DLR and Tram have a good service too.
However, all services are expected to be much busier than usual as people find alternative routes to National Rail amid the strikes.
All Tube lines are open but there are currently some delays due to the strikes on Wednesday. These should clear up later in the day.
You can check all line statuses live on the TfL website for the latest updates.
