Manchester United are reportedly not considering a move to sign Harry Kane, with the Tottenham striker also not in direct talks to join Bayern Munich.
According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, the England captain is not a serious contender for Erik Ten Hag this summer, with Napoli striker Victor Osimhen a more attractive option for United as the Red Devils look to sign a superstar striker in the window.
Kane’s future has come under the microscope in recent weeks amid growing rumours that Antonio Conte is set to leave Tottenham at the end of the season, a decision that could see the 29-year-old also leave north London following on from another trophyless year.
Having broke the all-time goalscoring record at Tottenham, this summer would be a perfect time for Kane to leave his boyhood club, yet whilst United would have been an ideal move for the attacker, the Manchester side seem intent on landing a younger option in the window.
Indeed, that’s not to say a move won’t happen this summer, with Kane’s future still likely to be away from north London as the striker’s contract creeps into its final 12 months, with United still well in the mix to sign the forward in the transfer window.
Manchester United could return for Kane when Osimhen pursuit fails
United’s stance on chasing Osimhen instead of Kane makes sense, with the Nigerian international perfect for Ten Hag’s style of football and five years younger than the Tottenham star. However, given unlikely it is that Napoli will sell their soon-to-be title-winning striker, the Red Devils could make a return for the England international.
After all, the window hasn’t even opened yet, and whilst United would ideally want to sign Osimhen, Napoli’s stance on the striker could mean that the Manchester giants will make a return for Kane sooner rather than later, with a deal likely to be more realistic.
