Anton Stach is open to a summer departure from Mainz as Premier League sides Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Newcastle United and West Ham eye up the Bundesliga ace, according to Sky Deutschland.

Mainz have a reputation for spotting rising managerial talents – handing breaks to Thomas Tuchel, Jurgen Klopp, Bo Svensson and now-Denmark boss Kasper Hjulmand – but it’s not just in the dugout where their talentspotting pays dividends.

The likes of Jerry St Juste (Sporting Lisbon), Moussa Niakhate (Nottingham Forest), Abdou Diallo (Borussia Dortmund) and Jean-Philippe Mateta (Crystal Palace) have been sold for big money in recent windows.

And Stach may be in the next cab off the rank.

According to 90Min, Liverpool, Tottenham, West Ham and Newcastle have all scouted the former Wolfsburg man. Stach will be out of contract in 2024.

Mainz could reportedly consider bids in the region of just £10 million. Stach is also open to a departure. He is hoping to force his way into Hansi Flick’s Germany squad for Euro 2024.

Sky believe that Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen and Monchengladbach are also in hot pursuit of the 24-year-old. A 6ft 4ins colossus of a midfielder who has played twice for Germany thus far; Stach would bring physicality, energy and presence to the Premier League, though there may be concerns about his technical ability.

“After injuries inhibited him, he’s a different player now,” the much-admired Svensson said back in October (DAZN). “This is the Anton we know from last season. He operates with a completely different power. A completely different self-image.”

“I think Anton is a good player and is doing a great job. Everything else belongs in Hansi’s hands.”

Liverpool are prioritising midfield reinforcements this summer. Stach is not exactly the first name on anybody’s lips. But with Jude Bellingham potentially too expensive, Jurgen Klopp may have to cast the net a little wider and consider more affordable alternatives.
