Borussia Dortmund are reportedly set to award Julian Brandt with a new contract amid interest from Arsenal and Tottenham in recent weeks.
According to DW, an ‘astronomical contract upgrade’ is in the works for the 26-year-old playmaker having been one of the best players in Europe since the turn of the year, with Brandt scoring five goals and bagging two assists in 2023 as Dortmund went on a nine-game winning run in all competitions.
With the versatile midfielder’s contract due to expire in 2024, interest has increased rapidly for Brandt in the past few weeks, with Arsenal and Tottenham the two early front-runners to sign the winger, with both sides linked with the German in previous years.
As per DW, though, Dortmund are keen to keep hold of Brandt and secure the former Bayer Leverkusen star’s services beyond 2024, with a new contract now in the works as the Bundesliga side look to hand the playmaker an improved deal with a better financial package.

Indeed, Brandt has been a sensation for Dortmund this year since rediscovering his form, and for Arsenal and Tottenham, the two Premier League sides could now miss out on signing the German international amid this latest update.
Moreover, whilst Brandt would have been a useful signing for Arsenal or Tottenham, the winger staying in Germany with Dortmund could work out as a great move for all parties, especially with Edin Terzic finally getting the best out of the 26-year-old attacker this year.
Brandt would be wise to sign new contract with Dortmund

Brandt has always been viewed as a player with immense promise, and the playmaker is finally showing his true quality with Dortmund in 2023, with a new contract now on the cards for the Arsenal and Tottenham target, who would be wise to agree to a deal.
Under Terzic this year, Brandt has become a key player for the Bundesliga coach, and whilst the winger could have succeeded in the Premier League, the 26-year-old will easily play his best football at Dortmund, where the forward is finally hitting his stride.
