Borna Barisic has been quoted by the Scottish Herald as leaving the door ajar to a potential exit from Rangers in the coming months – despite shining for the Ibrox club under Michael Beale of late, with Beale delighted with the Croatian.
Barisic, 30, is enjoying arguably his best spell at Rangers since joining the club in the summer of 2018 under Steven Gerrard. Just five games short of reaching 200 in all competitions for the Gers, Barisic has had a hand in 55 goals.
The 29-time Croatia star returned from representing his country at the World Cup to shine for Rangers. Under Michael Beale, Barisic has been superb in the 15 games he has played under the new-ish Ibrox boss – scoring two, creating five.
So much so, that Beale said after Sunday’s 3-0 win over Raith in the Scottish Cup that Barisic has been Rangers’ best player over the last few weeks in terms of his consistency. Barisic discussed his future this week, saying he could leave.
“What will happen in the future? We will see. You never know, I never say I will stay or I will leave. You never know and then people say you lied. I don’t want to talk about that. The most important thing is I’m very focused, very happy.”

Barisic leaves door ajar to potential Rangers exit in coming months
The £18k-a-week defender – who could be missing on Saturday due to the imminent arrival of his first child – has entered the final 18 months of his Ibrox contract. Whether he wants to sign a new deal remains to be seen.
Indeed, Rangers will be focusing on the futures of those out of contract at the end of the current campaign. Ryan Jack, Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos, Scott Arfield, Filip Helander, Allan McGregor and Steven Davis. Plenty of work to be done.
But, if Rangers have any nous, then they have got to reward Barisic for his excellent form and get the left-back tied down on a new deal. He certainly deserves to be offered a new deal and a pay rise. But, he may want a move.
