Tottenham are reportedly prioritising tying Harry Kane to a new contract ahead of Antonio Conte, with the England captain heading into the final 12 months of his current Spurs deal.
According to the Athletic, the north London side are ready to do all they can to sign Kane to improved terms, with transfer interest building for the 29-year-old attacker as the Tottenham star currently looks set to depart his boyhood club at the peak of his career.
Having become Tottenham’s all-time goalscorer, there’s a growing feeling that Kane could want a move, with Manchester United the early favourites to sign the Premier League talisman, though Spurs are now willing to fight to keep their star player around for longer.
The update could come as a surprise to many given that Conte’s contract is due to expire at the end of this season, with the Italian manager now expected to return to his home country and leave his position at Tottenham having failed to win silverware in his 18 months with the club.

Indeed, with Tottenham set for another rebuild, it would be an impressive feat if Daniel Levy is able to get Kane to sign a new contract with the club, with the forward now thinking that a move from north London could be best for his career ambitions.
With silverware still alluding Kane, the striker is well-within his right to leave Tottenham after all the forward has done for the club, yet even this latest move to prioritise the 29-year-old’s contract over Conte’s might not be enough to keep the forward around beyond this summer.
Kane could reject Tottenham contract to test himself elsewhere

Kane has established himself as a Tottenham legend after all the work the striker has done for the club. Yet following another trophyless season, the forward can be forgiven for wanting a move at this stage of his career, especially amid interest from the likes of United.
As a result, there’s a good chance that Kane could reject Tottenham’s latest contract offer, even if the north London side go all-out to convince the England international to remain with his boyhood club, a decision that will be a hard one to make for the striker.
