Sadio Mane is hoping to see Joao Cancelo bring an end to his time at Premier League champions Manchester City before joining Bayern Munich on a permanent basis this summer, speaking to Sport1

After an inconsistent start to life at the Bundesliga giants, Cancelo arrived in style during this weekend’s Bavarian derby; scoring once and setting up another as Julian Nagelsmann’s side defeated a plucky Augsburg 5-3 at the Allianz Arena.

And Mane, who joined Bayern from Liverpool last summer, hopes to see the Portugal international stick around when his loan deal comes to an end.

“What a player! Today, we saw again that Joao is one of the best in the world,” Mane smiles. “So good, really.

“We’re very happy that he’s playing for us. I would like to see him with us again next season. That’s exactly the type of player we need, for sure!”

According to Sport1, there is a £60 million option-to-buy clause in Cancelo’s contract. One Bayern are currently unable to afford, even the biggest and most deep-pocketed club in Germany incapable of matching the finances on offer in the Premier League.

Bayern Munich legend and honorary chairman Uli Hoeness highlighted the club’s spending limitations last week; all-but ruling out a £100 million deal for Harry Kane. Bayern reportedly value the Tottenham Hotspur talisman at closer to £45 million (90Min).

“I think the transfer is completely crazy,” says Hoeness.

“Last year Tottenham rejected 160 million euros (£140m) from Manchester City. Do you think he is cheaper this year? Harry Kane is a great player, no question about it. But that’s money I won’t pay.”

Bayern Munich, meanwhile, are two points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table. Borussia Dortmund dropped points in the Ruhr derby draw with Schalke, while dark horses Union Berlin are now on a run of four league games without a win.
