Newcastle United are expected to be right in the mix to sign Brighton and Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo this summer.

That’s according to The Sunday Mirror (12/03, p70), who claim that Caicedo is set to be a man in demand.

It’s stated that Caicedo could cost around £90million despite signing a new deal with Brighton earlier this month.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United are all named as clubs in the race to sign Caicedo this summer.

Yet it’s added that Newcastle also plan to be in the mix for Caicedo, challenging the Premier League’s elite.

Newcastle’s director of football Dan Ashworth was at Brighton when they pounced to sign Caicedo.

Ashworth may now fancy signing Caicedo again but Newcastle will face a major battle – and a huge financial outlay – to make this deal happen.

Brighton must be sick of Moises Caicedo rumours

The Seagulls are pretty familiar with transfer rumours surrounding their key players at this point.

Ben White, Marc Cucurella and Yves Bissouma have all moved in recent times having dazzled on the South Coast.

Hailed as ‘amazing’ by teammate Joel Veltman, Caicedo has become one of the Premier League’s top midfielders at just 21.

Caicedo has become a wanted man too and he attempted to force a January move to Arsenal after the Gunners launched two bids for him.

Brighton then secured a new deal with Caicedo, no doubt hoping to put an end to the rumours once and for all.

Yet it seems some clubs still aren’t deterred and may just believe that he new deal is just to increase the price tag on Caicedo’s head.

Newcastle appear to be one of them, and would be hoping to succeed where Arsenal failed during the January window – all whilst leaving Brighton frustrated at another window of rumours.
