Eden Hazard has raved about Leandro Trossard whilst suggesting that he was surprised to be playing over the Arsenal ace at the World Cup.

Real Madrid ace Hazard has been speaking to RTBF over in his native Belgium.

Hazard has paid tribute to Arsenal star Trossard, suggesting that he has been having a ‘good season’.

The former Chelsea star even suggested the he wondered why he was being picked ahead of Trossard at the World Cup.

Hazard noted that he struggled against Egypt in a pre-tournament friendly, and was left baffled himself when he was picked ahead of Trossard.

Hazard’s admission is brutally honest but he can understand why people were thinking that, given that he has failed to impress for Real.

“We were talking about the name of Leandro Trossard to replace me, he was having a good season,” said Hazard. “Even I wondered why I had to play when he had to go on the bench. It’s normal for people to think that. Especially after the game against Egypt, where we don’t play a good game, where I don’t play a good game,” he added.

Hazard started in a shaky performance against Canada and even kept his place for the defeat to Morocco.

Trossard was finally brought in for Hazard against Croatia but it was all too late as Belgium were dumped out in the group stage.

Leandro Trossard is taking his game to another level at Arsenal

Trossard’s fine form at Brighton in the first half of the season saw him earn a big £27million move to Arsenal in January.

The Belgian has made a big impact in an Arsenal shirt and certainly showed his class on Sunday.

Trossard racked up not one, not two but three assists in the first half against Fulham.

Marco Silva’s side just couldn’t handle Trossard as he caused absolute mayhem down the left flank.

That’s now five assists in his last three games with Trossard making an enormous impact in the early stages of his Gunners career.

The hope is that Trossard – now 28 – can kick and fire Arsenal to the Premier League title whilst surely taking over from Hazard in the Belgium national team moving forward.
