Alan Smith has praised Arsenal central defender William Saliba on Sky Sports Premier League (2:24pm, March 12, 2023) while watching him in action against Fulham on Sunday.
The former Arsenal star was impressed by Saliba, and said that the France international central defender is an elegant footballer.
Smith was on co-commentary duty on Sky Sports for the Premier League match between Fulham and Arsenal on Sunday afternoon.
Mikel Arteta’s side won the London derby with ease.
In the 25th minute, Saliba went forward and tried to score from outside the box.
That audacity from the 21-year-old defender impressed Smith.

In our view, William Saliba is one of the best young centre-backs around and is a key figure in the current Arsenal team.
The 21-year-old has established himself as one of the first names on the Arsenal teamsheet.
Saliba is very elegant on the ball and is able to drive the team forward from the back.
Yes, the youngster does make a few mistakes from time to time, but we should not forget that he is only 21.
Saliba will get better in the coming years.
