PSG are reportedly plotting a summer bid to sign Newcastle United defender Sven Botman, with the French giants losing out to the Magpies for the Dutch international last year.
According to iNews, the reigning Ligue 1 champions are scheming a plan to sign the 23-year-old just 12 months after Newcastle beat PSG to sign Botman from LOSC Lille in a deal worth £35m, with the centre-back since making quite the name for himself in the Premier League.
Newcastle’s defence has been one of the best in the English top-flight, with Botman’s performances key to Eddie Howe’s side sitting comfortably in a European spot as the Toon also made it to Wembley for their first cup final this century.
A talent who is adored by the Newcastle manager, Botman has easily been one of the signings of the season, and now, PSG are looking to get out their enormous chequebook to land the former Lille star, who could be tempted with a move back to France.

As per the report, though, Newcastle are very relaxed over PSG’s interest in Botman, with the Magpies open-minded about improving the defender’s contract terms in order to wave off interest from the European giants, a process the Toon are currently undergoing with star midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.
Indeed, keeping hold of Botman will be huge for Newcastle in the next step of their club evolution under the PIF regime, and with the club confident that PSG’s interest is no immediate threat, the Toon could soon secure the centre-back’s services for the long-term with a new contract.
Newcastle must sign Botman to new contract amid PSG interest

Botman has been nothing short of a revelation for Newcastle this season, with the Dutchman one of the best defenders in the Premier League and a player who could lead the Magpies backline for years to come, and the northeast club must now sign the centre-back to a new contract amid interest from PSG.
The 23-year-old has more than justified new terms with Newcastle based on his performances this season, and with a huge European powerhouse now interested in signing Botman, Howe and his team must be in the process of tying up the defender to a new contract.
