Alfred Schreuder missed out on the Leeds United job but is now set to return to management with Belgian side Club Brugge.

Schreuder was just one of many names heavily linked with Leeds before amounting to nothing.

The Dutch boss was spotted at Elland Road as Leeds lost to Manchester United last month, with many believing he would be appointed.

iNews added that Leeds were offering a deal until the end of the season, but the move collapsed.

Leeds moved on from Schreuder and ended up appointing Spaniard Javi Gracia instead.

Schreuder will have been disappointed to miss out on a chance to manage in the Premier League.

Yet it looks like Schreuder will soon be returning to management in the very near future.

Alfred Schreuder set for Club Brugge return

Club Brugge find themselves in a real mess after losing 5-1 to Benfica on Tuesday night.

Out of the Champions League, manager Scott Parker is under pressure and talkSPORT claim that Parker has been sacked.

Parker has won just two league games since being appointed as Club Brugge manager at the turn of the year.

Friday’s 3-0 defeat at Oostende left him clinging on and the thrashing at Benfica has put the final nail in the coffin.

De Telegraaf in the Netherlands now report that Schreuder will become Parker’s replacement in the Club Brugge dugout.

Schreuder became Club Brugge boss in January of last year, winning 15 games in 21 to win the league title before heading to Ajax in the summer.

Schreuder’s time at Ajax didn’t go well but he is now available again and Club Brugge have pounced to land him.

Whilst Leeds were only willing to discuss a short-term deal, Club Brugge want Schreuder for a long time according to De Telegraaf, having only had a fleeting time with him last year.

This seems to be the ideal move for all and Schreuder will be looking to get Club Brugge back on track just weeks after missing out on the Leeds job.
