Jamie Carragher and Peter Schmeichel traded verbal insults about Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool’s record-breaking and jaw-dropping 7-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday at Anfield.
The duo were working together for CBS covering Champions League football (Tuesday, 7th of March) and Carragher couldn’t help but constantly mention that it was indeed the ‘7th of March’, as well as other ‘seven’ related topics.
Of course, former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel cottoned onto this and he, at first, pretended that he couldn’t hear what his fellow pundit was saying.

It was, without a doubt, one of the most remarkable scorelines in English football history and it came in a fixture that is seen as the biggest in English football.
What’s even crazier is that, at half-time, it was 1-0, before Liverpool ran riot in the second half and humiliated their old rivals on Merseyside, with Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo and Roberto Firmino all getting on the scoresheet.
Nonetheless, as Carragher proceeded to jibe at Schmeichel about the weekend’s game, the treble-winner couldn’t help but remind the Liverpool legend that he didn’t mention the ‘seven own goals’ he scored in his career, as they told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (07/03/23 at 7:15 pm).
“We are getting into March, the 7th of March, for me it feels like these games (Champions League) are really important and cut-throat, as I said, into March on the 7th. How does it feel being at the Bridge (for Chelsea v Dortmund)?” asked Carragher.
Schmeichel responded: “I am sure that was a great question. Jamie, we can’t hear you. We can see that you are talking. I know it’s the 7th of March! I know it’s seven and March after that.”
Carragher added: “Jude Bellingham is there tonight, he is a superstar, we feel he is going to move on in the summer. What type of price tag are we talking?! It would have to start with at least a seven and go from there?!”
“Peter, you are going to be at AC Milan tomorrow, that’s another huge game. AC Milan v Tottenham. But how big a problem will that be if they go out of the Champions League? We are talking about the seven-time winners! I mean seven times to win the Champions League!”
Schmeichel’s co-host, Nico Cantor then responded: “Oh, I see what he’s doing now.” to a ball of laughter and the Man United legend added: “Are we seven points ahead of you? Well done, Jamie. It wasn’t great for me. I have been trying to make sense of this. I still have no idea how this can happen because it shouldn’t.”
Schmeichel then added later on: “I am very, very sorry, Jamie that I didn’t hear it. I didn’t hear any of it. We had terrible sound trouble. I know you prepared and it took you a long time to come up with that. You forgot one thing though when it goes to seven and that’s the seven own goals that you scored.”

A CONSTANT REMINDER
This is something Manchester United fans will never be able to let off and it’s something that they will constantly be reminded about for as long as Liverpool fans can.
It will be interesting to see what happens from here on in. Will this finally lift Liverpool’s season? Could they do the unthinkable and overturn that 5-2 deficit against Real Madrid in the Champions League?
Equally, will Manchester United start to falter, or like they have been doing under Erik ten Hag this season. Will this give them the kick up the backside that’s needed?!
