Harry Redknapp believes his Tottenham Hotspur side would have become an ‘incredible’ side if they had Premier League goal-machine Harry Kane leading the line, speaking to Tuttomercatoweb.
Imagine, for a second, Luka Modric and Rafael van der Vaart pulling the strings in the centre, Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon flying down the flanks, setting up chance after chance for one Harry Kane.
Spurs ascended to hitherto unimaginable heights under Redknapp between 2009 and 2011; reaching the Champions League quarter-finals and finishing in the top four for the first time in the 21st century.

But if there was one area where Redknapp’s Tottenham side were lacking, it was in the number nine spot. Despite the best efforts of Jermain Defoe, Peter Crouch and Roman Pavlyuchenko, a 30-goal a season striker could potentially have taken the London giants to a whole new level.
How far would Redknapp’s Tottenham have gone with Harry Kane?
“Mine,” Redknapp said when asked which Spurs side was better; his or Antonio Conte’s current vintage.
“And, I think if we had Harry Kane, we would have been an incredible team. Imagine that with Gareth Bale and Luka Modric!”
Tottenham head into Wednesday’s Champions League last-16 second-leg tie on the back of successive defeats; losing 1-0 at Sheffield United and Wolverhampton Wanderers. And, according to The Athletic, there is a growing belief that Conte will be heading out the door when his contract expires at the end of the current campaign.
The Italian, while hardly universally popular in North London these days, retains a keen admirer in Redknapp, however; the former West Ham United boss hoping to see Conte put pen to paper on a new deal.
“(Conte is a) fantastic manager. A top coach. An emotional manager who always wants to win,” Redknapp adds.
“His passion is fantastic. I would say contagious. I’ve never met him but I admire him a lot. He did fantastic things at Chelsea and, at Tottenham, he picked up a difficult job. If he still has time to work, he will be able to do great things.
“For this reason, I hope he stays on the Spurs bench for a long time.”
