Simone Inzaghi has lauded rumoured West Ham target Robin Gosens following a string of impressive displays for Inter Milan despite a reported bust-up between the pair.

Speaking to the press via GIFN, the UEFA Champions League manager hailed the German international’s performances for the Nerrazzuri as Gosens started his second Serie A match in a row this weekend in a 2-0 win against Lecce.

As per FC Inter News, there had been a reported falling out between Inzaghi and Gosens after the wing-back failed to impress at Inter having signed for the club last January from Atalanta in a €25m (£22m) deal. However, the pair now seem to be on good terms again.

Inzaghi said on the German international after Inter’s win against Lecce: “Gosens has been convincing me for a long, long time. I’m really enjoying him in training. He’s satisfying me a lot more when he’s taking over. He did very well today but he was very good against Bologna as well.”

Indeed, things could have ended much differently for Gosens had the defender opted to leave Inter in January, with Gazzetta dello Sport reporting that West Ham are huge fans of the fullback and could have made an offer to sign the 28-year-old.

However, a departure from the San Siro now feels unlikely for Gosens, who seems to have finally won Inzaghi’s trust. And for West Ham, these latest comments could all-but end their hopes of trying to sign the German international in the summer window.

Trust in Gosens from Inzaghi could rule out Premier League move

It’s not just West Ham who could now miss out on Gosens following this glowing review of the player from Inzaghi, but a move to the Premier League could be off the table entirely for the former Atalanta star having won the Inter manager’s trust and favour in recent weeks.

With Inter impressing in the division and in a good position to make the Champions League quarter-finals, Gosens has little reason to leave Italy this summer nor in the windows to come, and for Inzaghi, keeping up this level of trust will be huge in getting the best out of the defender.
