Cristian Stellini shares his verdict on Pedro Porro’s latest Tottenham Hotspur display

Tottenham Hotspur right wing back Pedro Porro has been praised by Cristian Stellini after his performance against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Tottenham’s form continues to be a complete mystery.

After beating Chelsea 2-0 last weekend, Spurs followed it up with an embarrassing 1-0 FA Cup defeat to Sheffield United.

Tottenham really needed a result against Wolverhampton Wanderers, especially after watching Newcastle United lose to Manchester City.

It was another nightmare for Spurs though as Adama Traore scored the only goal of the game to give Wolves all three points.

Question marks remain over Antonio Conte’s future at the club and whether Tottenham should even want to keep him.

Tottenham fans don’t have much to shout about right now but interim boss Stellini did find something to praise – the performance of Porro.

Stellini told Football London that he felt Porro ‘played a good game’ against Wolves.

Stellini added that Porro was ‘important’ for Tottenham even though he is still adapting to the Premier League.

“Pedro Porro played a good game like all the team,” said Stellini. “We know Pedro Porro is this type of player. We need to help him to adapt himself to a new league but today he was important for us. The only thing is be ready, nasty and aggressive in the way you have to kill the game,” he added.

Porro joined Tottenham from Sporting on deadline day after a long and protracted transfer saga.

The Spaniard endured a dreadful debut against Leicester City and then watched Emerson Royal turn in promising displays.

Poror was given the nod against Wolves though and his stats were pretty positive.

Two key passes, one shot on target, one accurate cross, one successful dribble and two clearances; Porro contributed going forward and defensively.

Porro was then substituted with nine minutes to play as Emerson came on to replace him.

It’s worth noting there that Wolves scored the winner just seconds after Porro was taken off.

Tottenham will now hope to see Porro put together some consistent performances with this display – even in a defeat – hopefully the springboard for quality performance moving forward.
