Alvin Martin praised Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale after his ‘world-class’ save denied Dango Ouattara of AFC Bournemouth. The goalkeeper produced a remarkable stop this Saturday.

But Ramsdale did not save Arsenal’s blushes early on as Bournemouth startled the Premier League leaders. Philip Billing broke the deadlock after nine seconds and before all Gunners stars touched the ball. Marcos Senesi would also give the Cherries a second on 57 minutes.

Ouattara arguably should have already gifted his south coast side a two-goal advantage on 21 minutes only for Ramsdale. Bournemouth burst away on the break with a three-on-one counter. Yet Ramsdale spread himself to thwart the forward after Billing squared the ball.

Bournemouth arrived at Arsenal having only won five of their 24 Premier League games so far this term. The Cherries also travelled to north London sat 19th in the standings to visit the table-topping Gunners. Mikel Arteta had overseen 19 wins during Arsenal’s 25 games.

Ouattara also arrived in the capital still seeking his first strike in the English top-flight after five goalless appearances. Bournemouth signed the 21-year-old Burkina Faso international from FC Lorient in January. The Cherries paid £20m and also gave him a five-year contract.

Ramsdale has played a key role in Arsenal’s run to the top of the table with 11 clean sheets in 26 games now after conceding against Bournemouth. But former West Ham star Martin loved his save to deny Ouattara. He firmly lived up to being Arteta’s final form of defence.

“That is a world-class save,” Martin told talkSPORT (4/3, 15:21). “The quality of the break was fantastic but Ramsdale comes from nowhere to keep it at 1-0.”
