According to Goal, Liverpool have been scouting two highly-rated centre-backs in Portugal; Goncalo Inacio and Antonio Silva.
The Reds have been scouting the pair in recent weeks as they look to bolster their defensive options ahead of next season.
Inacio, has been a standout performer for Sporting CP this season. The 21-year-old has made 32 appearances in all competitions and has established himself as a key player for Sporting.
Meanwhile, Silva, has been equally as impressive for Benfica this term. The centre-back has made 26 appearances in all competitions and has helped his side to the top of the Primeira Liga ahead of the likes of Sporting and Porto.

Both players are of a similar profile in that their main strengths are their physicality and their ability on the ball.
Liverpool have a history of success in the Portuguese market, having signed the likes of Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz from Benfica and Porto respectively. The Reds’ scouting network in Portugal is strong, and they will be hoping to unearth another gem in either Inacio or Silva.
Liverpool’s defence has been an area of concern this season. Virgil van Dijk hasn’t looked himself, Joe Gomez’s form has fallen off a cliff, while Ibrahima Konate has struggled with injuries throughout this campaign.
Indeed, it looks like the Reds’ backline needs a serious refresh, and signing either Inacio or Silva would help them in their defensive evolution.
It remains to be seen whether Liverpool will make a move for either player in the summer transfer window, but they could be marquee signings if they are targeted.
The Reds are likely to face competition from other European clubs for both Inacio and Silva, with Real Madrid and PSG linked to either player, so these won’t be difficult deals to conclude.
