Trent Alexander-Arnold blew Lucy Ward away with his ‘absolutely unbelievable’ passing as Liverpool beat Wolves 2-0 on Wednesday. Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah both hit late.
Wolves made the Reds wait until the 73rd minute for Van Dijk to break the deadlock in the Premier League encounter. Salah would then swiftly double Liverpool’s lead at Anfield only four minutes later. The win lifted Jurgen Klopp’s side into sixth in the table after 25 games.
Liverpool still trail the Champions League positions by six points but have a fixture in hand on fourth-place Tottenham. The Merseyside club also showed their resilience to seal a win over Wolves. VAR Stuart Attwell ruled out Darwin Nunez’s effort for a foul on Max Kilman.

Wolves also frustrated Liverpool for much of the match as Klopp’s team struggled to find a breakthrough. But Van Dijk broke the deadlock after Diogo Jota kept play alive in the area following Jose Sa saving the Dutchman’s initial attempt from Alexander-Arnold’s free-kick.
Alexander-Arnold caused Wolves a number of issues during Liverpool’s win before Van Dijk beat Sa. The full-back regularly found space on the right flank to attack the Molineux outfit from. Craig Dawson also had to react well to block a long-range hit straight after half-time.

Trent Alexander-Arnold astounded Lucy Ward in Liverpool’s win over Wolves
Klopp gave Alexander-Arnold his 23rd appearance in the Premier League so far this term as Liverpool hosted Wolves. But despite the 24-year-old troubling Julen Lopetegui’s squad, he would not add to his two assists. He has also scored one goal across 1,696 minutes so far.
Alexander-Arnold also only has three assists over 32 appearances for 2,451 minutes across all competitions this season. But the 18-cap England international astounded Ward during the Reds’ win with his great skill on the ball. He often sought to play Salah through on goal.
“Alexander-Arnold, the quality of his passing is absolutely unbelievable,” Ward declared on talkSPORT (1/3, 20:26). The former Leeds United forward would also later add (1/3, 21:48): “[The] best player on the pitch? Alexander-Arnold.”
