Fussball Transfers have relayed a report that claims that Borussia Monchengladbach have reduced the fee in question for Newcastle United target Manu Kone.

A month ago, Fabrizio Romano had stated that Eddie Howe’s side were keen on signing the Paul Pogba-like midfielder in the summer. However, it was set to be a challenge for the Magpies to win the race for the 21-year-old ‘diamond’, with PSG and Borussia Dortmund linked with his signature.

However, if Newcastle try their hardest to ensure that Manu Kone plays his football at St. James’ Park, they could sign him for a lower fee, as Gladbach have reportedly lowered their asking price.

The current 5th placed side in the Premier League are expected to further bolster their squad in the summer, as it is quite clear that they lack the depth currently to compete for Champions League football without breaking a sweat.

Now, Fussball Transfers have relayed a revelation that Borussia Monchengladbach have reduced their asking price from £39 million to a £26 million fee for suitors such as Newcastle to sign Manu Kone ahead of next season.

It has been claimed that any interested party that puts forward this fee can open talks with the Bundesliga club.

Steal for Newcastle

With Manu Kone being rightly regarded as one of the most exciting midfield prospects in Europe, the chance to sign him on a bargain fee after Gladbach have reportedly reduced their asking price is a blessing for Newcastle.

Considering it remains no secret that the English side are one of the wealthiest in the world, it is always expected that selling clubs will try to fleece them as much as possible in the transfer market.

Considering they now have a rare chance to strengthen an area of the pitch at a relatively inexpensive rate is an offer they cannot refuse.
