As Leeds United crashed out of the FA Cup after a 2-0 defeat against Fulham, Andrea Radrizzani has said that he was forced to sack Marcelo Bielsa last season in a latest revelation.
The Argentine manager has reportedly been telling those around him that he is keen on a return to the Premier League, which is a sensational update for the neutral. After all, the 67-year-old masterminded the Whites’ rise to the promotion and built a team that played the most fearless brand of football in the league.
Despite spearheading Leeds to a 9th placed finish in his debut campaign, relegation stared them in the face during their second season, which may have forced Andrea Radrizzani to take the big decision.
Andrea Radrizzani reflects on Bielsa sacking at Leeds
While the club did get rid of the ex-Marseille boss, Jamie Carragher felt that his influence remained strongly within the camp, as he felt they were only chasing managers capable of replicating his signature style of play.
As much of a Leeds legend that Marcelo Bielsa became, Andrea Radrizzani has now opened up on why he had to take the hard decision of letting him go, as quoted by Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb.
“The most difficult time was with Bielsa, communicating this [the fact that he was set to be sacked] to him after all he had given but I had realised that psychologically and physically, the team was no longer able to follow him and he is one of those who asks a lot.”

“We were in a whirlwind. I made that decision against my wishes and knowing that I would go against Leeds fans, who in fact still hold it against me today. Very difficult but it was the right thing.”
While Leeds find themselves in transition since the exit of Marcelo Bielsa, Andrea Radrizzani and Co. would like to ensure that they recapture their glory days under him imminently.
