The agent of Bologna forward Musa Barrow hopes to see his client make a ‘dream’ move to Serie A leaders Napoli after confirming interest from Premier League outfit Fulham, speaking to Radio Punto Nuovo.

Eyebrows will certainly be raised if Napoli do come calling for Barrow this summer.

The Gambian forward, after all, has just two goals and two assists from 21 games this season. Then again, not much was expected from Kvicha Kvaratshkhelia either, and look how far he’s come in just six months. They don’t call him ‘Kvaradona’ for nothing.

In Cristiano Guintoli – the architect extraordinaire behind this Scudetto-chasing squad – Napoli have one of European football’s most respected talentspotters pulling the strings. With regards to Barrow, Guintoli he’s probably earned himself the benefit of the doubt.

Will Napoli or Fulham return for Bologna forward Musa Barrow?

“Napoli had been looking for him before the arrival of Kvaratskhelia,” Luigi Sorrentino says when asked about his client’s future.

“Whether or not Musa’s name will now be of interest to the Azzurri again, I always hope so. We are talking about a club like Napoli, which today represent the top both in Italy and in Europe.

“They can even aim to win the Champions League. They are experiencing a moment of overflowing form, with (Victor) Osimhen, Kvara and all their teammates on top form. It is a dream for us to imagine playing at Napoli one day.”

In addition to Napoli, a newly-promoted Fulham and a Sir Jim Ratcliffe-owned Nice also showed an interest in Barrow last summer, according to Sorrentino. That was until Bologna refused to budge on their £14 million asking price.

If Fulham were unwilling to pay £14 million then, after Barrow scored six goals and set up seven more across 2021/22, then what are the chances of the Cottagers returning 12 months on; the former Atalanta flyer resembling a shadow of his old self?

Then again, attacking additions will likely be high on Marco Silva’s wishlist. The futures of Manor Solomon and Daniel James are very much in the air. Willian, outstanding since his arrival, is not getting any younger either. The brilliant Brazilian will turn 35 in August.

“Torino want (Barrow). There are also requests from Nice and Fulham,” Sorrentino said at the time.

“But the demands of Bologna to date block his exit. The demand is around 16 million euros (£14 million). What I ask myself is, can you ask for 16 million for a guy who doesn’t even play?”
