Arsenal target Gabri Veiga continues to dazzle for Celta Vigo as scouts flock to watch the midfield in action ahead of the summer window.

Spanish newspaper AS claimed over the weekend that Arsenal have identified Veiga as a potential signing.

Newcastle, Manchester United and Arsenal are all understood to be watching Veiga closely ahead of a possible move.

Fabrizio Romano has slightly cooled the rumours though.

Romano has told Caught Offside that Arsenal fans have been asking him about Veiga in recent days.

However, Romano believes Veiga won’t be on the move this summer and thinks he is more for the future even if top clubs are scouting him right now.

“Some Arsenal fans have asked me about links with Celta Vigo youngster Gabri Veiga,” Romano said. “However, I think it’s way too early before linking him with big clubs like this. I’m told four or five top clubs scouts are monitoring him as Veiga is a top talent and he’s doing great La Liga, but it’s something for the future, not present,” he added.

Veiga could be one for Arsenal’s long-term wish list but it looks like Edu has found an absolute gem in the Celta star.

Arsenal target Gabri Veiga earning praise in Spain

Veiga has emerged as Celta Vigo’s next great hope at just 20.

Born in Galicia and a product of the club’s academy ranks, Veiga has been nothing short of sensational this season.

The midfielder excelled on Sunday afternoon, scoring twice to secure a 3-0 win over Real Valladolid.

That takes Veiga’s tally for the season to eight goals and three assists in just 22 La Liga games.

Veiga has become an exceptional goalscoring threat from midfield and is now closing in on double figures.

The Spanish press have been going wild for Veiga, with SPORT hailing his ‘amazing ability’.

La Voz de Galicia gave Veiga a 9 out of 10 rating against Valladolid and hailed him as a ‘superlative player’.

If Veiga carries on like this, there will be more and more clubs flocking to watch him and potentially bid for him this summer.

Arsenal may be wise to firm up their interest now but loan him back to Celta for a season, allowing him to keep developing in Spain.

That’s something for Edu to think about as Veiga looks like the kind of talent Arsenal can’t afford to miss out on in the coming months.
