Vitor Roque’s agent has reportedly held a meeting with FC Barcelona amid reports that the La Liga giants want to beat Arsenal to the signing of the Brazilian wonderkid this summer.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Roque’s agent, Andre Cury, was in Catalonia a few weeks ago to meet with Barcelona’s director of football Mateu Alemany and sporting director Jordi Cruyff, with the Spanish league leaders the current favourite to land the striker.

As per the report, Arsenal remain interested in Roque with Mikel Arteta desperate to sign the teenager for the north London side, however, this recent meeting in Barcelona between the club and the attacker’s agent could swing the battle in favour of the La Liga side.

With Barcelona in need of a long-term striker, Roque is regarded by those at the club as the perfect option given just how good the Athletico Paranaense prospect is, with the forward a breakout talent in Brazil in 2022 both domestically and continentally.

Moreover, with Roque thriving for Brazil at youth level, Barcelona could have a potential global superstar on their hands in the 17-year-old, and this latest meeting between the club and the player’s agent could be huge in the long-run, much to Arsenal’s dismay.

Barcelona have a pull and a mythos few clubs can ever strive to achieve in the world of football, and with Roque’s agent now meeting with the club, the Catalan giants now feel like the clear favourites to sign the Arsenal target in the summer window.

Whilst the Gunners and the Premier League are as alluring as they have ever been, Barcelona’s project under Xavi Hernandez demands a young striker to lead the line, and Roque could be perfect as an understudy for Robert Lewandowski and a long-term option for the La Liga side.
