Kieran Tierney is open to joining Newcastle United as he contemplates leaving Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal this summer.
That’s according to The Mirror (26/02, p71), who claim that Newcastle are weighing up a summer move for Tierney.
It’s stated that Tierney has now become increasingly frustrated at Arsenal after losing his place to Oleksandr Zinchenko.
Tierney is allegedly ‘anxious’ for first-team football and is believed to be ‘open’ to joining Newcastle this summer.
Eddie Howe’s interest is no surprise; he made Tierney his top target at Bournemouth way back in 2018.
No deal materialised back then but Newcastle could be in a very strong position to sign Tierney at the end of the season.

Kieran Tierney makes perfect sense for Newcastle United
It’s a shame that Tierney has ended up in this position.
Niggling injuries have been a problem for Tierney and that forced Arsenal to go and sign Zinchenko from Manchester City.
Tierney has now started just four Premier League games this season and a departure seems inevitable.
Newcastle did sign two left backs in 2022 as Dan Burn and Matt Targett arrived to provide some Premier League experience.
Burn is popular with the fans and has started 22 Premier League games this season whilst Targett has suffered with injuries of his own.
Neither player really seems like the long-term option for Newcastle in that left back spot and we can see a summer signing there.
Tierney – branded ‘outstanding’ by Brendan Rodgers – fits the bill for Newcastle, especially given that Howe has been a big fan in the past.
Whether Arsenal would fancy helping Newcastle’s ascent is unclear, but if they can bring in profit for Tierney, then they would surely strike a deal.
The move would also take Tierney some way closer to Glasgow, which may well appeal to the former Celtic boy.
