Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are now scouting Rani Khedira in view of a transfer from Union Berlin. But a host of rival Premier League clubs also admire the defensive midfielder.
That is according to 90min, which reports a swarm of English top-flight teams attended Die Eisernen’s 3-1 Europa League knockout round play-off win over Ajax this Thursday. Khedira captained the Stadion An der Alten Forsterei natives, as well, to secure a Round of 16 spot.
Khedira has captivated teams in England and throughout Europe with his performances for Union Berlin this term, though. Liverpool and Tottenham’s scouts alongside talent spotters for Everton, Leicester City, Newcastle United, West Ham and Wolves attended the Ajax tie.

A host of European teams, including a number of Die Eisernen’s Bundesliga rivals, are now tracking the 29-year-old. He has played an instrumental role in the capital club’s charge to a surprise German top-flight title challenge. Khedira has started 20 of his side’s 21 matches.
Urs Fischer has only been without his vice-captain for one Bundesliga fixture due to a one-match ban after five yellow cards. Khedira has further played every minute of their Europa League campaign. Die Eisernen host Union Saint-Gilloise in the last 16 first-leg on March 9.

Khedira could deny Liverpool and Tottenham a transfer and stay at Union Berlin
Liverpool, Tottenham and multiple rivals have now turned their attentions to Union Berlin and Khedira as they plot summer transfers. Stadion An der Alten Forsterei chiefs are eager to fend off any approaches with Champions League football possibly following next term.
Khedira has been with Union Berlin, who visit title rivals Bayern Munich this Sunday, since 2021. Yet teams sense a chance to break that bond with his current contract due to expire on June 30. But the midfielder noted in January that he is not against penning fresh terms.
“There have already been discussions [about a new contract],” Khedira told Kicker. “With me and with my management. These dialogues were very appreciative and I have also often emphasised that I feel very comfortable in the association.
“I enjoy working with the environment and the people in the club. Of course, I can therefore imagine staying here. Union is definitely my first point of contact.”
