According to a report by Football.London, goalkeeping prospect Josh Keeley was spotted in first-team training ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s upcoming clash with Chelsea.

That certainly comes as an interesting revelation, after Fraser Forster received a lot of sticks from fans and pundits alike for his poor display in Spurs’ recent 4-1 defeat against Leicester City.

While it would be a stretch to suggest that Josh Keeley will earn a starting place for Tottenham against Chelsea, it is interesting to know that he has been called up to training.

Josh Keeley was in Tottenham training ahead of Chelsea showdown

Despite Cristian Stellini’s men coming off what was a truly humiliating result, before which they lost 1-0 to AC Milan, they will be expected to take home all 3 points against Graham Potter’s side, who are currently in 10th place in the Premier League.

As Tottenham prepare to face Chelsea, Football. London’s Alasdair Gold reported that Josh Keeley was in training with the senior side.

The 19-year-old, who joined the club from St. Patrick’s Athletic in the summer was included as a part of the session, as 4 goalkeepers must be involved in training and Hugo Lloris’ injury may have led to him getting a chance alongside Fraser Forster, Brandom Austin and Alfie Whiteman.

Perfect opportunity for Josh Keeley to make an impression

Of course, it would be unreasonable to expect Josh Keeley to come into training and cement his place as the No.1 at Tottenham, ahead of their encounter against Chelsea or even before the season.

But with Lloris unavailable for the next couple of weeks and the club constantly linked with bringing in a successor for their declining skipper, the youngster has a golden opportunity to show the staff why it may be worth investing into his talent for the long-term, even potentially as a No.2.
