Rafa Benitez is interested in replacing David Moyes at West Ham despite interest in his availability from Leeds.
What’s the story?
Well – according to the Daily Mail – the Spaniard would like to take over at West Ham, and is waiting to see if the east Londoners sack Moyes.
That is despite the Guardian claiming that Leeds are interested in hiring Benitez as a replacement for Jesse Marsch.
The 62-year-old has been unemployed since receiving his P45 at Everton back in January 2022 after just over six months in charge at Goodison Park, where he was steering the Toffees towards the Championship.
Nevertheless, Benitez boasts a superb managerial CV despite that stint on Merseyside, with 173 wins from 359 Premier League outings, while also lifting the Champions League, Europa League, FA Cup and many other trophies.

Moyes is in danger of losing his job at the London Stadium following Sunday’s 2-0 defeat to Tottenham, which saw the Hammers slip into the relegation zone.
In regards to Leeds, the Whites are still yet to replace Marsch – who was sacked on Monday 6th February – and have since dropped into the bottom three as well following Saturday’s 1-0 loss to Everton.
West Ham or Leeds will need to commit to Benitez
Interestingly, the Daily Mail believe Benitez wants to oversee a long-term project in his next role.
Therefore, West Ham and Leeds would have to offer the Spanish tactician a lengthy contract if they are to secure his services, or else it seems unlikely he would be interested.
The Daily Mail claim it is more likely that West Ham offer Benitez an 18-month contract like they did with Moyes in December 2019.
Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as West Ham find themselves involved in a crucial clash against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
If the Irons lose that game as well, then it could be curtains for Moyes in east London, and Benitez may soon arrive.
