Micah Richards has said on Match of the Day on BBC One that Liverpool fans are now starting to see what Cody Gakpo is all about.
The former Manchester City defender has suggested that Gakpo could now explode for Liverpool.
Richards made the comments about the 23-year-old Netherlands international forward while analysing his performance for Liverpool against Newcastle United on Saturday evening.
Jurgen Klopp’s side beat the Magpies 2-0 at St. James’ Park in the Premier League.
Gakpo scored the second goal for Liverpool in the 17th minute.
The £35 million January 2023 signing (The Guardian) found the back of the net against Everton at Anfield in the Merseyside derby as well.

Richards said about Gakpo: “He needed that because you come in for big money and people expect you to do straightaway.
“He found it at times had to get that rhythm, but today we are starting to see the signs of it.”

The youngster has taken his goals against Everton and Newcastle well.
He now looks very confident.
The way Gakpo was getting past players against Everton in the Merseyside derby was very impressive.
