Jamie Carragher has praised Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson on Sky Sports Premier League (6:12pm, February 18, 2023) for his performance against Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Saturday evening.
Liverpool have picked up all three points against Newcastle away from home.
The Reds have enhanced their chances of finishing in the top four of the Premier League table this season with the win against the Magpies.
Now, it was not the best of performances from the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners.
Newcastle had chances, even in the second half when they were down to 10 men due to the dismissal of goalkeeper Nick Pope in the first period.
Former Liverpool defender Carragher was following the match for Sky Sports.
The former England international was on co-commentary duty for the match on Sky Sports.
And he was impressed by Alisson, saying that the £190,000-a-week (SalarySport) Brazil international goalkeeper was Liverpool’s best player against Newcastle.
Alisson made a number of saves in the first half and in the second period for Liverpool against Newcastle.
The Brazilian stood strong between the posts, especially in one-v-one situations.
