According to TEAMtalk, Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are leading the race for Leicester City attacking midfielder James Maddison, who has been linked with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur as well.
Newcastle leading race for Arsenal target James Maddison
Journalist Graeme Bailey has reported on TEAMtalk that Newcastle “really like” Maddison, and that if they finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season, then “they are the firm favourites to land” the England International playmaker.
Bailey has claimed that Manchester City and Tottenham are also keen on the 26-year-old playmaker.
According to 90min, Arsenal, Tottenham, Newcastle and Manchester City all are keen on Maddison, who does not want to put pen to paper on a new deal with Leicester.

Long way to go
In our view, James Maddison is not going to make a decision on his future anytime soon.
The race for the signature of the Englishman is wide open.
Arsenal and Newcastle United both will be confident of signing the playmaker, and so will Tottenham Hotspur.
After all, there is a long way to go.
It is very likely that Maddison will choose his next club in the summer of 2023 after all the interested parties have made their pitches.
Much will depend on how much playing time Maddison will get, his salary demands, the ambitions of the clubs, and whether or not they will play in the UEFA Champions League.
