Speaking on the Talking Transfers Podcast, Graeme Bailey has reported that Mason Mount is not entirely sold on the Chelsea project amid links to Liverpool and Newcastle.
These rumours may come as a surprise to some Chelsea fans, who see Mount as a key part of the club’s long-term future. The 23-year-old has been with the club since the age of six, and has established himself as one of their most important players in recent seasons.
As an academy product and a key player in the first-team, one would imagine that Mount would toe the company line at Chelsea, but that seemingly isn’t the case.
Chelsea have been in poor form as of late, and they have spent heavily in the transfer market. The club’s new manager, Graham Potter, has struggled to get the best out of his side so far.
Mount seemingly isn’t impressed in the direction Chelsea are headed, and things may need to change soon.

Mount not sold
Bailey shared what he knows about Mount and his mindset at Chelsea.
“This has been going on for a long time. Mount wanted to go to the World Cup and show his worth there, but that didn’t quite work. The terms aren’t quite there for him. He’s not entirely won over by the project, but from Mount’s camp he wants to stay at the club, he really does want to stay at the club. If he comes on the market, most of the top six, including Newcastle, Liverpool, City and United are keeping tabs on this situation,” Bailey said.
Will he stay?
Mount is clearly a wanted man, but the question is whether or not he will leave Chelsea.
As Bailey says, the player wants to stay, but with contract negotiations rumbling on and the club performing poorly on the pitch, that could change in an instant.
A number of top clubs in England are keen, so he won’t be short of suitors.
