Leicester City are pushing to keep hold of James Maddison with Tottenham Hotspur keeping close tabs on his situation.
That’s according to The Telegraph, who suggest that Leicester want to avoid selling Maddison this summer.
It’s claimed that Leicester are now intensifying talks over a new contract to keep Maddison at the King Power Stadium.
The report adds that Leicester have ramped up negotiations over the last 48 hours or so in the hope of striking a deal.
Maddison is into the final 18 months of his contract and the Foxes are now pushing to secure a new deal quickly.
If Maddison gets to the end of the season with his contract still not extended, you can be sure that interested clubs will start circling.
Leicester don’t want to lose Maddison and are now pushing to get his deal sorted having watched Youri Tielemans run his contract down.

Tottenham lurking for James Maddison
The Telegraph’s report adds that Tottenham are watching Maddison’s situation and are keen admirers of the Leicester star.
Newcastle United also remain keen on Maddison having failed with a £40million offer for his signature last summer.
Tottenham’s toothless displays against Leicester and AC Milan in recent days show the lack of guile that has plagued Spurs this season.
Tottenham just don’t have a creative midfielder to consistently link midfield to attack and create chances in tight spaces.
Maddison is exactly the kind of midfielder Tottenham need, but you can be sure he will come at a very high cost this summer.
If Leicester don’t get a deal sorted soon, Tottenham should absolutely make their move for Maddison and hope to beat Newcastle to his signature.
There isn’t much Tottenham can do about it now though, and they need to wait and see if Leicester can reach an agreement with their ‘incredible’ playmaker.
